临界高血压也称边缘型高血压，是指血压在正常血压至确诊高血压之间的血压值。世界卫生组织规定的标准是，成人的正常血压为：收缩压<120毫米汞柱（16.0千帕），舒张压<80毫米汞柱（10.7千帕）。确诊高血压为：收缩压>=140毫米汞柱（18.7千帕），舒张压>=90毫米汞柱（12.0千帕）。在正常血压与确诊高血压之间的血压值为正常高值。
