东北杏是蔷薇科杏属的植物，落叶乔木，极稀灌木，幼叶在芽中席卷状，叶柄常具腺体，果实为核果，两侧多少扁平，有明显纵沟，果肉肉质而有汁液，成熟时不开裂，稀干燥而开裂，外被短柔毛，稀无毛，离核或粘核。分布于远东地区、朝鲜以及中国大陆的辽宁、吉林等地，多生在开阔的向阳山坡灌木林及杂木林下。
