绿道是一种线形绿色开敞空间，一般是林荫小路，供行人和骑单车者（排斥电动车）进入的游憩线路，通常沿着河滨、溪谷、山脊、风景带等自然道路和人工廊道建立。美国、英国、德国、新加坡以及国内一些地方都有比较成功的实践，如珠三角绿道网、成都绿道、武汉绿道、长沙绿道等。 在景观设计中，绿道（Greenway）概念起源于20世纪70年代，是一种与景观相交叉的人为开发的走廊。“green”表示绿色诸如森林河岸、野生动植物等；“way”即道路。 另外，交通管理部门把安全通畅的道路比喻为“绿道”，即一路绿灯之道。
