兰开斯特家族(House of Lancaster)，系金雀花家族(House of Plantagenets，或称安茹家族House of Angevins)的分支，其家族的始祖为（冈特的）约翰(John of Gaunt)。冈特的约翰是英格兰国王爱德华三世第三子，1340年生于法兰德斯的冈特（在今尼德兰王国/荷兰王国境内根特），故被称为冈特的约翰（当时贵族往往依据出生地作为称呼）。1362年，成为兰开斯特公爵，从此开创此一家系。
