“Uh,” Elyse muttered, pondering what to do. What was she to say? Everything about these men frightened her. She knew the secrets about them all too well. She gulped. But, she was determined not to seem weak. Just because she was a maid she wasn't willing to be walked all over, like the underling she was sure she seemed to be. She stared back at him chillingly. “I am here for work,” she said, and quickly snapped out her hand where she clutched the acceptance paper. “I don't wish to intrude. I assure you that my time spent here will not be a waste.”
