Google's driverless cars have clocked up more than 250, 000 miles in America, and Nevada has become the first state to regulate such trials on public roads.
Just in the U.S., driverless technologies could save tens of thousands of lives, prevent hundreds of thousands of injuries and avoid hundreds of billions of dollars in accident-related losses each year.
