To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they are satisfied with the response of companies in implementing the recommendations of the Combined Code issued by the Department of Trade and Industry in July 1999 requiring shareholder involvement in the determination of executive directors' remuneration - The Lord Smith of Clifton.
The CBI supports some of the report's recommendations but is warning that changing takeover rules would be a "big step" which should not be rushed and that remuneration of company directors should be a matter for shareholders, not government.
