abstract:Dark flow is an astrophysical term describing a possible non-random component of the peculiar velocity of galaxy clusters. The actual measured velocity is the sum of the velocity predicted by Hubble's Law plus a possible small and unexplained (or dark) velocity flowing in a common direction.
"The concern is if enough volume and order flow gets diverted into dark markets, at some point we would ask whether you would have reached a tipping point at which the public price discovery from displayed markets is being hurt, " said Jamie Brigagliano, co-director of the SEC's trading and markets division.
One can just imagine what he is going through for the sin of trying to shine a light into the dark corners of the guild that controls the flow of money, tenure, prestige, and publications in the insular world of Big Science.
