Those include neighbors in areas of Manhattan that have not been traditional hotbeds of bicycling, such as the area around DagHammarskjoldPlaza in Manhattan's Turtle Bay neighborhood.
"This city is a small city, " said Anwar Sheikh, 56 years old, a livery cabdriver, who was parked on a recent weekday along DagHammarskjoldPlaza, within sight of the U.N. building.
"To install two big bike-share stations here and outsize stations elsewhere in our community is a recipe for trouble, " said Bruce Silberblatt, part of a group hostile to depots around DagHammarskjoldPlaza at East 47th Street.
