In a statement, a Google spokesperson said: "Our privacy policy respects European law and allows us to create simpler, more effective services, " adding that Google would continue to engage fully with the dataprotection authorities on the matter.
She said all contracts with suppliers were now established and monitored by specialist procurement staff and the council would continue to train, support and raise awareness on the importance of dataprotection.
