除钢丝缆和化纤缆绳以外，我国等一些国家已生产出一种用金属与纤维复合而成的缆绳，简称复合缆(compound rope)。这种复合绳每股均有金属丝核心，外覆纤维护套，有3、4或6股，可用于系船缆或拖缆。
