Abstract : This article reviews the research progress of cucurbituril as a type of synthetic acceptor in recent years, including the advances in the molecular design and synthesis of cucurbiturils, their ion/molecule recognition, binding thermodynamics, molecular assembly and the function of the formed assemblies.
