Thebillofrights attached to the constitution ofthe newly formed UnitedStatesof America in 1789 guaranteed free speech and a fair trial, but no right to be taught to read and write.
On December 15, 1791, theUnitedStates adopted theBillofRights, enshrining in our Constitution the protection of our inalienable freedoms, from the right to speak our minds and worship as we please to the guarantee of equal justice under the law.
