On May 29, 2003, the KOZJAK Hydropower Station project, constructed by Sinohydro Corporation, started to reserve water. Macedonia Prime Minister Branko Crvenkovski attended the ceremony. In September 2004, KOZJAK Hydropower Station project was completed and the two units began to use in July and October. It is the biggest hydropower project in Macedonia and was appraised as “the Little Three Gorges of Macedonia”.
