The court ruled Wednesday that the liability for insurers was incurred at the time a worker was exposed to asbestos, rather than at the time when the disease first appeared.
Plaintiff attorneys counter that bankruptcy trusts usually pay a small fraction of what their clients could win in a lawsuit and that it is almost impossible to determine exactly how a worker was exposed to asbestos.
