In an effort to preserve the land, the Spruce Brook Shelter was removed after the Wilderness Areadesignation of a few years ago, but there are several established campsites on a ridge up above the river.
Each area retains its designation as a metropolitan or micropolitan statistical area (or NECTA) within the larger combined statistical area (or combined NECTA) when the areas are combined.
