Some of the most extreme cases of recent inappropriate 999 calls to ambulancecontrol centres in Scotland included a woman who was worried her tooth might fall out.
The volunteers, who are known as community first responders (CFRs), are mobilised by ambulancecontrol and although they often arrive ahead of the paramedics, an ambulance is always automatically despatched to any call attended by them.
