abstract:The Alaska Current is a southwestern warm-water current along the coast of British Columbia and the Alaska Panhandle. The current results from the northward diversion of a portion of the North Pacific Current when that current meets the west coast of the North American continent.
After several years and billions of dollars in infrastructure investments by currentAlaska producers like ExxonMobil, BP and Anadarko Petroleum, ANWR could produce 1 million barrels of oil a day for 40 years.
And while other states are floundering in the current economy, Alaska is sitting on a surplus, a surplus which is largely related to the increase in oil company revenue.
