abstract:Adaptive management (AM), also known as adaptive resource management (ARM), is a structured, iterative process of robust decision making in the face of uncertainty, with an aim to reducing uncertainty over time via system monitoring. In this way, decision making simultaneously meets one or more resource management objectives and, either passively or actively, accrues information needed to improve future management.
This book presents a current and global synthesis of scientific findings and policy recommendations for scientists, water managers and policy makers towards adaptivemanagement of groundwater sustainability under future climate change and variability.
The strategy describes the NNI EHS research investment by research need, the state of the science, and an analysis of the gaps and barriers to achieving that research as part of the NNI's adaptivemanagement process.
