The French version of the module was produced by the Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD) with financial support from the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA), the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and UNESCO.
Opening the debate, the Parliament's rapporteur on the agreement - Italian social democrat Francesca Balzani - said the agreement was a "good compromise", but said that ACP and banana producing regions of the EU could not be allowed to be exposed to "unfettered competition".
