abstract:Proterosuchidae is an early, possibly paraphyletic, assemblage of basal archosauriformes whose fossils are known from the Latest Permian of Russia and the Early Triassic of southern Africa, Russia, China, Australia, and Antarctica. The name comes from Greek πρότερο- ("first") and σοῦχος ("crocodile").
