abstract:Surname or family name Ispahani is used by certain descendants of clans that originated in or around city of Isfahan or Esfahan, that migrated to India and other regions retaining the original and phonetically more accurate spelling Ispahan from the ancient name of the city Ispadana (also spelt Aspadana). Due to absence of phonetic equivalent of 'p' in Arabic language and difficulty for them (the conquering Arabs with spread of Islam to the region) to pronounce it, the city's name was transcribed with Arabic equivalent of 'f', hence name of the city became transliterated as Isfahan and remains so for the last 14 centuries.
Ispahani described Mehsud as "a murderer and a monster" and said his death would be a boon to Pakistan's ongoing military operation against Taliban militants inside its borders.
"I hope she's remembered as the greatest daughter this country has ever produced and the first woman prime minister ever elected in the Muslim world, " Ispahani said through tears.
