许 能（明？—？）字任之，明初沙河人，永乐年间以贡生资格入太学。有一天，明成祖朱棣做了一个梦，梦见升殿时一旁站着一位于众不同的穿红衣服的人。第二天早朝时，皇帝发现许能的装束、相貌与梦中人十分相似，认为一定是神人托梦于他，于是就授给许能兵科给事中的职务，不久又转为礼科谏官。许能在这个职务上七年，提了很多忠直的建议。后来被提升为浙江参议，当时钱塘江水经常泛滥，许能组织民众修堤筑坝，避免了江水的危害，浙江人建立祠堂纪念他。最后累官至山西左布政使。
