中国历代纪传体史书﹑政书﹑方志等，将历代或当代有关图书典籍，汇编成目录，谓之“艺文志”。艺文志的编纂，对研究历代图书文献，考订学术源流，颇具参考价值。方志中编辑收录的诗文，亦多称“艺文志”。亦省称“艺文”。

《清史稿艺文志》的来源都是书目，书目很多，最大的是《八千卷楼书目》。
