地质构造(geological structure) 是指在地球的内、外应力作用下，岩层或岩体发生变形或位移而遗留下来的形态。在层状岩石分布地区最为显著。在岩浆岩、变质岩地区也有存在。具体表现为岩石的褶皱、断裂、劈理以及其他面状、线状构造。对水工建物筑地基的稳定性和渗漏性有直接影响。如褶皱构造核部岩石破碎、裂隙发育，强度低，渗透性较大。闸坝、电站、隧洞等选址时应尽量避开这种地段。选址还应考虑库区的断裂情况，较大断层如伸到库外，可能会产生库区渗漏现象。
