香豆子，又名胡卢巴，为豆科一至两年生草本植物，根系比较发达，主要根系分布在六七寸土层以内，茎直立，主茎高一、二尺，分枝六个到十个。叶为三出掌状复叶，长椭圆形，很厚，像肉质，鲜绿色。蝶形花冠，黄白色，荚果二寸到四寸长。每荚含有种子一二十粒，种子灰黄色，具香味。
