本品为维生素D3的生物活性代谢物，作用较D2、D3强，具有肾激素作用，能与肠粘膜细胞质的特定受体结合，并转送到细胞核的染色体上，增加了mRNA的转录工作及促进胃肠内传送钙的蛋白质的合成。促进小肠内钙的吸收，调节骨质中无机盐的转运，纠正低血钙，减轻骨与肌肉的疼痛，降低血清碱性磷酸酶和血清甲状旁腺浓度或使之趋于正常。
