遗产战争 The War of Devolution 发生在1667~1668年，法国与西班牙的战争是由遗产继承引起的。路易十四的王后是西班牙国王腓力四世之长女，1665年腓力死后，路易以其后之名义要求继承西属尼德兰的遗产，因此这场战争史称“遗产继承战争”。当时荷兰与法国在贸易上有竞争，便改变传统政策，转而同西班牙结成联盟。虽然昔日的同盟英国和瑞典一起来阻止侵略，但这场战争还是以法国的胜利而告终。战后的《亚琛和约》使法国得到了南尼德兰的某些地区。
