边缘融合技术分为纯硬件边缘融合（单片机原理）、软件融合（GPU）、集成式边缘融合服务器（集融合矫正、布局窗口、信号输入、中央控制等功能为一体），主要技术特点是将多台投影机投射出的画面进行边缘重叠，并通过融合图像技术将融合亮带进行几何矫正、色彩处理，最终显示出一个没有物理缝隙，并更加明亮、超大、高分辨率的整幅画面，画面的效果就象是一台投影机投射的画面。
由于几何校正不可避免的存在一定误差，不同投影仪像素物理位置也不可能精确的重合，故边缘融合(Edge Blending)是必不可少的步骤［10］。
