转位因子也称转座因子（transposable elements）是存在于细菌染色体或质粒DNA分子上一段特异性核苷酸序列片段。它能在DNA分子中移动，不断改变其在基因组中的位置，从一个基因组移到另一个基因组中，也形象地称之为跳跃基因（jumping gene）或移动基因。通过转位因子可促进抗生素耐药基因、毒力基因，以及其他基因在非亲缘关系细菌间的传播和菌体内基因的重组，是细菌变异的动力之一。
（3）转位因子（transposable elements）：是指可以从染色体基因组上的位置转移到另一个 位置，甚至在不同的染色体之间跃迁的基因成分。
