跖行是一种前肢腕掌指或后肢跗跖趾都着地哺乳动物。跖行动物的脚上，从趾头到后跟的部位上都长有厚肉的脚板，靠脚板贴地行走，缺少弹力，所以跑不快。人类其实也属于“跖行”动物跖行类动物中，熊类和猿猴类奔跑的速度也较慢，用脚板触地行走，步伐柔软。凡用前肢的腕、掌、指或后肢的跗、跖、趾全部着地行走的方式，称为跖行。
它有熊的跖行足的特征，有每只脚上的五个弯曲锋利的爪子用来抓住冰和紧握猎物。
