调查统计法是指通过谈话、问卷、查阅有关资料等方式收集资料，运用统计的方法来处理数据，得出事物变化、发展的特点与规律的方法。因此，调查统计法实际上是两个步骤，先要进行调查，然后再根据调查的结果进行统计。它一般通过抽样的基本步骤，多以个人为分析单位，通过对调查对象的口头或问卷回答咨询的分析，来开展研究。
