蓝刺尾鱼（学名：Acanthurus coeruleus）。此鱼体呈卵圆形。侧身条纹随年龄阶段不同而改变。成鱼体为紫灰色，鱼鳍为蓝色，具白色边缘，尾鳍呈半月形，尾柄硬棘基部为鲜黄色，背鳍硬棘9枚、背鳍软条26至28枚、臀鳍硬棘3枚、臀鳍软条24至26枚。体长可达39厘米。幼鱼期为亮黄色，背鳍及尾鳍具蓝边，成熟后，蓝色代替了黄色，更加鲜艳，也可能出现黄尾巴。
