莲前思明区莲前街道办事处是1987年区划调整后，从原郊区禾山镇划出新成立的街道。地处厦门本岛东部的城乡结合部，与大小金门岛仅一水之隔，是五八年“8.23”炮战涌现出的“英雄小八路”、“前沿十姐妹”的故乡。
