茶组，花1-3朵腋生，白色，中等大或较小，有柄。苞片2，早落。萼5-6，宿存。花瓣6-11，近离生。雄蕊2-3轮，外轮近离生。子房3-5室，花柱离生或下半部连生，3-5 (-7)裂。蒴果有中轴。本组的种类叶片里多含咖啡碱，也有部分种类只含可可碱 (theobromine)。
