多年生草本。根状茎匍匐泥中，细长而柔软，不实叶具长柄，长7～20厘米，叶柄顶端有小叶4片，十字形，对生，薄纸质；小叶倒三角形，长与宽1～3厘米，先端浑圆，全缘，叶脉叉状，下面淡褐色，有腺状鳞片。孢子果斜卵形或圆形，长2～4毫米，被毛，于叶柄基部侧出，通常2、3个丛集，柄长1厘米以下，基部多少毗连；果内有孢子囊群约15个，每个孢子囊群具有少数大孢子囊，其周围有数个小孢子囊。
