脂纹（fatty streak）：是AS的早期病变。肉眼观：于动脉的内膜面，见黄色帽针头大的斑点或长短不一的条纹，宽约1~2mm，长达1~5cm，平坦或微隆起。光镜下：病灶处内皮细胞下有大量泡沫细胞聚集。泡沫细胞圆形，体积较大，胞浆内有大量小空泡（原为脂滴，制片过程中被溶解）。此外，可见较多的基质（蛋白聚糖），数量不等的合成型SMC，少量T淋巴细胞，嗜中性、嗜碱性及嗜酸性粒细胞等。
脂纹是动脉粥样硬化早期的损伤性表现。
