耳堂是十字形教堂的横向部分，用直角穿过中殿，十字形平面交叉延伸出去短轴的部分称之为十字型翼部或称为耳堂，又叫做横厅。耳堂两旁有时也会设置许多小圣堂，也是供私人祈祷和举行弥撒的地方。
