缓刑期，又称“缓刑期间”或“缓刑考验期”。对宣告缓刑的犯罪分子进行考察的一定期间。各国刑事立法对缓刑期的规定不尽一致：第一种是法定主义，缓刑期由法律明文规定，法官无自由裁量权；第二种是裁定主义，缓刑期法律无明文规定，由法官自由裁量决定；第三种是相对主义或称折衷主义，法律对缓刑期规定一定的幅度，法官在此幅度内进行自由裁量确定。
