经验方法是在实践中通过人的感觉器官或借助科学仪器获取科学事实和感性认识的方法。主要是观察方法和实验方法等。是自然科学研究不可缺少的最基本方法之一，它使人们获得丰富的感性认识，是形成、检验和发展科学假说和理论的实践基础。但这种方法所能达到的是关于事物的局部、现象和外部联系的感性认识，还不能达到关于事物整体的、内部联系的、本质和规律的理性认识，因此，通过经验方法获得的感性认识有待于发展到理性思维上升到理论。
