所谓社会印象 是留在记忆中的认知客体的形象，简言之就是头脑中的认知客体的像。认知客体在头脑中的像，可以是一草一木，也可以是人和人群、社会，还可以是由人和物及其各种关系构成的社会事件。社会印象一般地是对人、对由人构成的群体和社会的印象，对群体和对社会的印象也是对人的印象。但在实际生活中，对物的印象也常常成为社会印象，这种物像转化为社会印象，是因为其中渗透或体现了人的东西，是物化了的人像。
通过两个实验分别考察了在自然判断和社会判断条件下社会印象受意识控制情况的不同特点。
