硝酸纤维素又称纤维素硝酸酯，简称NC，俗称硝化纤维素，为纤维素与硝酸酯化反应的产物。以棉纤维为原料的硝酸纤维素称为硝化棉。硝酸纤维素是一种白色纤维状聚合物，耐水、耐稀酸、耐弱碱和各种油类。聚合度不同，其强度亦不同，但都是热塑性物质。在阳光下易变色，且极易燃烧。在生产加工、包装、贮运和销售、使用中都要注意安全。
