玉环岛是浙江省第二大岛，面积169.51平方公里，人口约17万。位乐清湾东侧，北接楚门半岛，距台州市区南70公里。1977年完成漩门填海堵坝后，自此与大陆相连。岛上向富山海之利，柚香柿艳，虾贝满仓，四季鱼市不绝，常年绿树葱茏。近年来城镇化发展迅速，渔农工商贸皆十分活跃，为沿海县市经济建设中的后起之秀，有“东海碧玉”之称。
