状态焦虑（state anxiety）：指因为特定情境引起的暂时的不安状态。 一般自我效能感与特质焦虑、状态焦虑和考试焦虑之间的确存在着负相关关系，与Bandura关于自我效能感的理论推断一致。按照Bandura的理论，自我至少包括自我强化(self-reinforcement)和自我效能感(self-efficacy)两个相互联系的组成部分。自我强化是指个体的行为达到或超过某一标准所获得的奖励或惩罚，自我效能感是一个人对自己的行为能否成功达到某一标准的知觉。因此自我效能感涉及个体处理各种生活事件的能力，同时，自我效能感也涉及个体在处理各种生活事件时所产生的情绪。本研究表明，焦虑的被试通常自我效能感较低，或者说自我效能感高的被试不容易产生各种焦虑。可以这样理解，焦虑的被试在生活中容易产生无助感，因而他们会在认知上相信所有的努力都是徒劳无功的。相反，自我效能感高的被试善于处理各种生活事件，即使遇到困难也会尝试去克服，不容易产生焦虑。
