thermal fatigue failure 在无外加机械应力的条件下，由于外部温度的涨落使零件内部产生循环应变，由此导致的裂纹和断裂叫做热疲劳失效。 在热疲劳条件下，有两种方式可使零件产生循环应变： （1） 受热循环的零件因相邻零件的约数而不能自由的膨胀或收缩。 （2） 零件在壁厚或长度方向因快速加热或冷却而产生温度差，高温区的膨胀受低温区的约数，反之亦然。无论是哪种情况，热循环引起的循环应变均为非弹性应变。 显然，只有那些在服役中经受热循环的零件，才易发生热疲劳失效。例如轧机的热轧辊，热锻模，钢锭模，燃机汽轮机和汽轮机的热端零部件，内燃机薄壁铸件，热交换机薄壁件等。
