滑压运行是指汽轮机在不同工况运行时，不仅主汽门是全开的，而且调速汽门也是全开的，这时机组功率的变动是靠汽轮机前主蒸汽压力和温度的改变来实现。定压运行高负荷时经济性好，对负荷反映速度快。低负荷时节流损失大，给泵电耗高。滑压运行时，对负荷反映速度慢，低负荷时损失小，高负荷时效率低，所以低负荷采用滑压运行，高负荷改定压。
