混交林是两种以上树种所构成的林分。其中每种树木在林内所占成数均不少于一成。林中如树种搭配适当，可提高林分的生产率和稳定性，林木能充分利用光能和土壤中的水分和养分，生长比较迅速，病虫害、火灾的发生和蔓延较轻，且能提供多种多样的木材和其他林产品，防护作用较强。但培育技术比较复杂，要求土地条件较高，如树种配置不当，往往达不到预期效果。混交林是森林火灾保险的主要承保对象。
