深大断裂是规模巨大向地下深切而且发育时期很长的区域性断裂。又称深断裂。其切割深度可达下地壳，甚至切穿地壳伸入地幔。区域延伸可上百公里乃至上千公里。深大断裂一般是各级区域构造单元的分界，把地壳分割成运动特点和构造各不相同的地块，并与构造单元相应发展，或在不同构造时期一再活动。最早的一些深大断裂出现在元古宙初。深大断裂由А·В·裴伟于1945年提出。
