没收财产，是指剥夺犯罪人个人财产，无偿收归国有的一种刑罚方法。财产刑的一种。现代各国刑法对没收财产的规定，有两种情况，一种是没收犯罪者个人的财产。另一种除了没收犯罪者个人的财产以外，还包括没收犯罪所得财物、违禁品及犯罪工具。中国刑法规定的没收财产，是指没收犯罪者个人所有财产的一部或全部。不包括属于犯罪者家属所有或应有的财产。对犯罪人适用没收财产，一方面是对他们所犯罪行的惩罚；另一方面也是从经济上剥夺他们赖以继续进行犯罪活动的物质基础。
