氯铜矿是一种稀有矿物，斜方晶系。柱状、板状晶体，纤维状、放射状、粒状、块状等集合体。深绿色。玻璃光泽到金属光泽，透明到半透明。硬度3-3.5，比重3.76。作为次生矿物与孔雀石、蓝铜矿和石英伴生于铜矿床的氧化带中，氯铜矿也形成于火山口周围。
